Howdy one and all! Heck, I kind of enjoy getting my large butt out there diggin’ in the dirt, trimming trees and bushes and yes, my friends, gettin’ the ole garage cleaned up! While I am at it, settin’ up a chair or two & table where I can proudly sit & purvey all my achy-joint and sore-muscle accomplishments! Yep, those first couple of excursions into the world of spring cleanup really let me know I ain’t stretched, bended, nor knelt in those ways in many a month. Damn, need to get me a more exercise- friendly remote control for those darn C-SPAN shows on TV. Maybe just jogging to the fridge (cardio), broiling’ more food at the bottom of the oven (for bending & stretching),and having more winter sex while exploring the Kama Sutra more deeply would do for cardio/stretching/weight loss/lower heating bills. Ah, with the glory of Spring, the HF boys are coming out into the dangerous, brave new world again, all rested and ready to start hittin’ the stages around the Midwest one mo' time. Best part, though, was being down there for the earthquake that hit YEEHAW. Unfortunately, upon arising at the hotel and wandering down for breakfast, I discovered that I was just about the only person in St. Louis who felt nothing at all. Then as we were chowing down, the Big aftershock hit, but once again, ole Perbear was oblivious whilst folks were running to safety or trying to get a better look at the assumed damage that would occur. Now either I am extremely laid back and 1000% focused on the deed at hand (fork to mouth) or… closer to meeting my maker than I ever imagined, just about burnt out most feelin’ from loud geetars and wild livin’--not sure, but found it very interesting. I have a sneaky feelin', though, that them who claim how much they felt that minor quake were grossly exaggerating their intense awareness of the monumental event! Guess they never lived through a good California rumble; this one here was sissy shit in comparison. Maybe I should make up some tee shirts, “I survived the Quake of 2008,” & see how many wear that feller proudly!!!!! Been a bit busy lately with radio appearances on KHITS in St. Louis, also KMOX St. Louis--a late night after-concert thing where I may, just may, have been a little too Cabo’d up for FCC liking! As I remember there were quite a few references to spankings being discussed, none of ‘em relating to children; quite a mystery how Jordan’s mind works off-the-cuff. The Trio opened up for America last weekend at the St. Charles Arcada Theater last-minute thing Saturday night and then we hit the Arcada again Sunday for a few tunes at the Fintan Patrick Schiltz Benefit--a very cool young feller & family. Robbie Fulks and a bunch of great musicians were there, great vibe. Lots of fine things comin’ up soon. I am in the process of writing... ![]() Many folks ask me how it comes about, so this is a story about how it comes about!!! Episodes will come out as fast as my limited brainpower can complete each one. They will be informative, informational, full of information, and information rich!! Which, after reading you will feel fully informed. Keep an eye out on the website for the 1st episode arriving extremely soon. A limited release of Disrupting the Country should be available to our e-mail list folks within 4 or 5 weeks. Finishing up the artwork now, and then it's off to the manufacturin’ folks. Think you're all gonna love it and have some great summer fun with these new tunes. Coming up May 3rd is FitzGerald’s, our favorite Chicago club with the YellowHammers--our first club date in 5 months or so. We will be playing some of the new stuff off Disrupting, and our new geetar monster, Radon, is locked in the saddle, blazing off some hot licks. Come on out, my friends--we need to sing with ya and see your smilin’ faces again. May 10th we are teaming up with Bernie Glim and his great band for a full night of country rockin’ the house down. Show at Gaelic Park--more info to follow--just might have a few surprises up our sleeve, ya never know! Bernie & I will be appearing on Tom Lounges' radio show May 4th around 6pm or so to promote the show, and I will be bringing some of the new tunes for him to play, so tune in if you can. http://www.xrock1039.com/ This Sunday we will be taping a video shoot for the Chicago Acoustic Underground web show. Not sure when it will be up but will keep ya informed. http://www.chicagoacoustic.net/ Sh*t I am getting’ tired just reading and writing this all up!! Just wanted to catch you all up a bit and let you know that although we have been away, we have not been couch potaters. Looking forward to the new season and all the great parties we’re be gonna be sharing (*all choked up*)-- we missed you all a lot. YEEHAW! ![]() © Heartsfield 2008. |

First show was in St. Louis, outside & 75, blossoms a bloomin and short sleeves, and yes, some halter tops prevailing--what a coming out party. We played in the middle of a sort of pond thing and it was the first time I sang directly to about 2000 foot-long goldfish, all lined up & starin' at me at the mic. Somehow I don’t think it was my golden voice, but the possibility that I was gonna be throwing them some good fish food! Or did I notice on a few sour notes the group thinned out quite a bit--tough crowd those fellers, kinda like a New York City bunch.
