Howdee!! Sure had some good fun with all of our friends at the Charlie Daniels show!! Playing with my brother Phil was sure enough a huge treat. Think the feller is gonna jam with us at the Mokena show coming up the 28th of July, so come on by if ya can! Had a mishap with one of my neighbors last week. I was recording with Phil Lucafo all day, so the hounds had to be locked in the house with us so I could keep an eyeball on 'em. We're taking a break, when lo and behold, out of the corner of my eye, I spy one of my neighbors excitedly yacking to a cop in his squad car. Now, after all the years of being on the road and being a hippie, you develop an otherworldly ability to sense that an officer of the peace is in the near vicinity! But since I now have cleaned up my ways and been nearly officially crowned pert near “St. Jordan,” I no longer get that scared feeling that used to come upon me like a wave of coming danger. But sure enough, after a few very animated pointing gestures toward my house, the squad swiftly made its way to MY driveway!! Seems that neighbor feller claimed he was chased down the street by a Godzilla-size, fire-breathin’, the very-vision-of-Satan's snarling black DOG of death!! Well, the first words out of the officer's mouth were, “Do you own Godzilla-size, fire breathin’, the very-vision-of-Satan's snarling black DOG of death?!!” Being nearly a saint, and surprised he didn’t see my halo, I said, "Yes sir, oh merciful one, (I know when to kiss some ass) he’s the shy quiet one trying to rip the window and door down there; he’s a very friendly." Seems the wild chase had happened about an hour before, so my Tomah (the Catahoula Louisiana Leopard dog bred for hunting wild boar) could NOT have been the perp!!! And so, the lie was exposed. Best part is, as neighbor was falsely accusing my little angel, his 2 huge doggies come tearing across the street to him and the cop--all happy, jumping, barking and lickin' away!! Sometimes ole karma works quite swiftly. Got me thinkin’, though, how much things have changed. But that will be Part 2 of this rant--look for it next week! © Heartsfield 2007. |
